Making pottery is one of the oldest forms of art. Pots range from being hand thrown to machine made and hand decorated depending on the maker.
The pottery itself also changed through the ages. The raw product (the mud), the compounds used in the glazes and the heat of the kiln and the skill of the potter all come together to make each unique specimen.
Some of these variables will never be repeated again. For example, lead based glazes aren't made any longer. - Surely the potters of yesteryear didn't know how damaging the lead exposure was to their health while they were making those spectacular glazes. We are thrilled to offer a variety of unique art pottery--some of the early 20th century's best potters and some from today's celebrated artists.
